Cleansing Curly Hair

  • Brush your hair and hydrate your curls with pre-shampoo, hair oil, or a simple 15 min leave-in conditioner mask will also do the trick.
  • Use a comb or your fingers for even product coverage. Whatever pre-shampoo treatment you use, ensure you nourish entire strands of hair from the roots to the tips.
  • Pop on a shower cap to trap the heat and open up the cuticles on your scalp so all the magic can reach the hair.
  • Rinse off after 20-35 mins and continue with the rest of the regimen.
  • Pre-shampoo treatments hydrate your curls, and detangling makes it easy for you to wash them in the shower.
  • Use a shampoo that's formulated for curly hair and one that is free of sulfates.
  • Using your fingertips, massage the shampoo for a minimum of 60 seconds directly onto your scalp and the hair roots.
  • Divide your hair into sections and slowly and patiently detangle them from the bottom up using your fingers. No brushes or combs are needed.
  • Massage your scalp and roots again as you rinse off the product.
  • Thoroughly rinse off the shampoo or co-wash product from your scalp and hair.
  • Piling up your bed of curls on top of your head only looks cool in movies. But it will make
you cry as you work through an intricate web of tangled-up coils.
  • Don't use wide-toothed brushes or combs to detangle your wet curls in the shower. Use
your fingers to gently ease off those stubborn knots.
  • Don't wash your curls/ waves daily unless you want to strip off your sebum's naturally producing oils.
  • Depending on the nature of your curls and hair, washing it twice a week is recommended.
  • If your hair is intensely curly, then unless it gets extremely dirty, you can wash your hair once every 2-3 weeks!
  • Get a shampoo that's designed for curlies and wavies. Period.
  • Formulas containing parabens, SLS, sulfates, and alcohol are toxic and an absolute no-no.
  • Look for a creamy cleanser with hydrating and moisturizing elements such as hyaluronic acid, coconut, and natural fats. The CocoBerry Hair Curl Repair comprises blueberry oil, coconut water, and hyaluronic acid formula.
  • Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate. It's that simple.
  • Give your curls that extra oomph of moisture between wash days with a hydrating hair
mist that will also reduce any itchiness in your scalp.
  • Don't use dry shampoo. Ever. It will destroy those curls.

Conditioning Curly Hair

  • Conditioner is your No.1 BFF! It should be a non-negotiable element of your wash routine. Never skip it!
  • Use a silicone-free conditioner always, ideally one designed for curly hair such as CocoBerry’s Hair Curl Repair conditioner.
  • Apply to the ends and avoid the roots. Be generous with conditioner. And let it sit for at least 5-10 mins.
  • Super curlies can also apply conditioner to their scalp and roots for added hydration.
  • Gently detangle and massage your hair while letting the moisture lock into your curls.
  • Rinse off entirely, or leave some in for an extra burst of moisture.
